The monopitch is just one look, but it is a more expensive option. If budget does not allow that, then choose a hip roof or gable over the living area. For a luxe version, you could add add a covered portico!

Smaller homes, designed well, can still incorporate the features you want. Reconfigure the layout to suit your style, while retaining the size you need.

Space and budget permittimg, you could include a fully insulated, carpeted garage that could be used as an activity room.
